About the Lecture

As a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy, Elder Hafen served in Area Presidencies in Australia, North America Central Area, and Europe. During October general conference in 1999, Elder Neal A. Maxwell asked Elder Hafen to write his biography. Shortly after returning home in August 2000 from serving in Australia, Elder Hafen embarked on the spiritual journey of fulfilling Elder Maxwell’s request.

In this lecture, Elder Hafen speaks of the miracles, hardships, and divine guidance given to him as he began to tell Elder Maxwell's story." Elder Hafen noted about his experience, “When we tell our own stories to others we realize that the cosmic quest to overcome evil and find God is our very personal quest.” By studying the life of Elder Neal A. Maxwell, Elder Hafen discovered a clear pattern to become a true disciple of the Savior. Elder Hafen will expound upon portions of Elder Maxwell’s biography, as well as share personal experiences and insights.
