Addison Pratt, Benjamin Grouard, and Noah Rogers were the first missionaries in French Polynesia; they arrived on the island of Tubuai in April 1844.
Called as Mission President to replaced Noah Rogers when he left to return to the United States.
In October 1850 he was joined by his wife, Louisa Barnes, and their four daughters, Ellen Saphronia Pratt, Frances Stevens Pratt, Lois Barnes Pratt, and Ann Louisa Pratt.
Called but not able to serve another mission in the South Pacific because the French protectorate government at Tahiti all but banned him from preaching (Saints, Volume 2, pg. 276)
