Alexander crossed the Atlantic on the ship Manchester in 1861 with his son Joseph. He was re-baptized 17 October 1861 in Utah. His travel to Utah is mentioned in his son's obituary. His birth date is recorded as 22 June 1803 in the 13th Ward record of members.
The Charlotte Carter Cornwall history indicates that he and his son both traveled in a company led by "Captain Aspin."
