Although not directly listed in the memorandum book, Robert (Alexander's father) purchased enough food rations for nine people. According to New York passenger lists, the Hay's traveled from Liverpool to New York aboard the Colorado, arriving 28 July 1868.
He is the son of Robert and his second wife Mary Jane.
