The Deseret News roster indicates she was traveling with her two "sons". The PEF record indicates their names were, John and Joseph, who was 7 years old. Joseph was likely her grandson since she would have been 51 years old when he was born and she had another son, also named Joseph. Her sons Charles and Joseph were listed separately on the roster with their families.

PEF records indicate that a few years later, she paid into the Fund to bring her daughter Amelia (7 year old Joseph's mother) and her family over from England as well.
