Ane was a widow who sailed to America in 1867 on the ship Manhattan with her daughter, whose name is listed as "Anne Thomine Thomsen" on the ship manifest.  This five-year-old child died before the ship passengers arrived at North Platte, Nebraska.

The ship Manhattan, "A Compilation of General Voyage Notes," gives us the following information:

"Fri. 21. [June 1867] -- The steamship Manhattan sailed from Liverpool, England, with 480 Saints, under the direction of Archibald N. Hill. It arrived in New York July 4th, and the emigrants continued the journey to North Platte, a station on the Union Pacific Railroad, 391 miles west of Omaha. From that place the journey across the plains was commenced, Aug. 8th, with ox teams, under the direction of Captain Leonard G. Rice, and the company arrived in G. [Great] S. [Salt] L. [Lake] City Oct. 5th."

Ane's death certificate confirms her birth and death date and shows her name as "Maria Chrestiansen Dalby."  The inscription on her gravestone shows her name as "Anna Marie C. Dalby."
