Ane Marie Jorgensdatter

A secondary source states that Ann came to Utah when she was 12 years old, which would make her traveling in 1856.  However, we have not been able to confirm this information.  She was married 4 April 1863 to Andrew Purley Shumway, which was prior to the arrival of that season's emigration, so she would have arrived in Utah by 1862.  Further research is needed to determine the year of her travel and the name of the pioneer company she traveled with.  

According to Family Tree, her mother died in Denmark and her father died in 1862 in Iowa.  Her three brothers, Hans, Jacob, and Jens, remained in Iowa and did not come to Utah We have not been able to determine when the family came to America.

Her name is listed as "Ane Marie" in the parish records of Braaby, Slaglillie, Soro, Denmark, but apparently she changed her name to "Ann Mary" after arriving in America. Family Tree shows her name as Ane Marie Christensen, and her death certificate and the inscription on her gravestone show her name as "Ann Mary Hyde."  Ann's birth and death dates are confirmed by her death certificate.  She married Charles Walker Hyde in 1884.
