Ann Williams
Evidence from genealogical records proves that the Williams family came to Utah in 1856. Ann and four of her children (Margaret, Sarah, Mary, and William), appear in the Perpetual Emigrating Fund records in 1856. A daughter (Ann) married in Utah in Mar. 1857, prior to that season's emigration. Mary's obituary says she was a handcart pioneer of 1856, traveling with Captain Dan Jones but Jones did not lead a handcart company that year and none of the family names appear on the hand-written roster of his wagon company. Secondary sources say the family traveled with the Edward Bunker Company, but again, none of their names appear on the published roster of this company (Deseret News [Weekly], 15 Oct. 1856, p. 254). According to Family Search William (Billy), died in 1856, but it is not known if he ever set foot on the pioneer trail. In the 1860 census Ann is in the household of her married daughter, Ann Charles, in Cache County, Utah. Additional research is needed to discover the name of the pioneer company with which the family traveled.
