Evidence from emigration and genealogical records proves that the Thomson family traveled to Utah in 1862. The Thomsen family traveled with Caroline Thomsen's mother, Karen Sophie Hansen, who is mentioned in the Hans Jorgan Peterson autobiography.

The family came on the ship, Electric in 1862. The family consisted of: father, August, mother Caroline and children: Augustine and Ane Sophie.
