Bergata Pedersen

Bergitte arrived in New York on 16 July 1866 via the ship Kenilworth. Her name (or a similar one) appears in records for both the 1866 Scott and 1866 Rawlins companies. It is uncertain if these are two different women or if she moved from one company to the other. Her record in Mormon Migration indicates she was 30 years old at the time of travel. The Scott company records list her name among other heads of household in the company and shows she purchased two adult food rations, indicating she was traveling with either one other adult or two small children, and she had more than double the weight of luggage allotted a single person. However, her PEF record only shows a balance of $60, which was the cost for one person crossing the plains. Further research is needed to properly identify this individual and to determine if she was traveling alone or with others.
