Carl Peter traveled to the United States with member of his family in 1855. They sailed on the ship James Nesmith. Carl Peter is listed on the manifest with his mother, Anna. According to Pioneers and Prominent Men of Utah, Carl Peter and his mother traveled to Utah as members of the Abraham O. Smoot company. There are no primary source documents to support this, however, Carl Peter and Anna have been placed in the Smoot company anyway. Should any information to the contrary surface, their placement in this company will change at that time.
