Caroline Hooper Saunders

Caroline Hooper Saunders was born 3 January 1813 in West Maryville, Buckingham, Virginia, United States to John and Mary (Hooper) Saunders. Little is known about Caroline, prior to when Caroline joins the church but records show she was baptized in June 1841. She appears in the records of Orson Pratt’s wagon train, with the James W. Cummings Company making the trek to Salt Lake City, apparently alone, at the age of thirty-eight, arriving in September 1851. She appears on the Company rolls as Caroline H. Gilliam, who at one point was married to Isham Gilliam.

After arriving in Salt Lake City, she marries John Taylor on 9 December 1852. Caroline does not appear in the record again until she is listed in John Taylor's will. She had no children. She died on 7 February 1874, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States, at the age of 61, and was buried in Salt Lake City Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States.
