Catherine Jane Allen

Evidence from emigration and church (Perpetual Emigrating Fund) records proves the Allen family traveled to Utah in 1863.  They sailed to America on the 1863 Antarctic. On her death certificate and in her obituaries her given name is "Katherine." All of these sources give her birth year as 1839 but on the 1900 census she reported her birth year as 1840. Two of her obituaries say she was a handcart pioneer but the use of handcart companies ended in 1860.
