Charles arrived in New Orleans on 6 March 1853 via the ship Ellen Maria. He likely crossed the plains that same year, but further research is needed to confirm that and to identify the name of the company he traveled with. He married in Salt Lake City in early 1861, so he would have traveled between 1853 and 1860. There is no journal entry solidifying him with any company so further research will need to be done.
