Dennis George Winn
George was the first of his family to make the trip to the Valley in 1853. His mother and sister followed him in 1856 and were among the members of the Martin handcart company who were caught in winter storms in Wyoming. The family tradition is that when the rescue effort was organized, George was among the first who responded to the call and went to Wyoming to find his mother and sister. Further research is needed to confirm this with primary documentation.
