Sailed to the U.S. in 1854 on the Benjamin Adams with her mother and siblings. She appears on that record as "Doris Jorgensen." Her step-father's name was Johann (or John) Jeurgens. She does not appear in Saints by Sea.

After reaching St. Louis, Dorothea's mother and most of her siblings remained in Missouri. Dorothea and Sara were the only two to come to Utah.

She was married to Hans Peter Jensen in 1855. Her sister, Sarah Josephine Dinah Catherine Jensen, was also a wife to Hans Peter Jensen. Dorthea married Hans after arriving to Utah. It is unclear whether or not Dorthea traveled to Utah with Hans and Sarah. More research is required to determine when and how she arrived to Utah. She arrived in Utah before October 1855.

Her name is "Dora Jensen" on the 1860 census, "Dora C. Jensen" on the burial and death certificate and "Dorthea Johann Clawsen Jensen" on Find A Grave website.
