In some sources her given name is "Ellen." She traveled on the ship S. Curling with her parents (William and Elizabeth Williams Davies, a sister (Jane) and a cousin (Elizabeth Evans-Davies).. Upon reaching Iowa City, she, her sister and their cousin set out for Utah in the Bunker company. Her parents remained behind to help build handcarts. Her father died there and her mother traveled with the Martin company.

Her name appears as "Ellinor Davis" on the 16th Ward re-baptism list.
