Elisabeth Burgess

Elisabeth was married to Anson Mathews and had 9 children. The family is found on the Nauvoo 2nd Census.  In 1846, in Nauvoo, she married Samuel Bent as a polygamist wife. Anson married another woman a day later. No divorce found from Mathews. It appears she traveled with Anson Mathews to Utah in 1848. Samuel Bent died before making it to Utah. Elisabeth and Mathews are found on the Land Records of Salt Lake County and she goes by "Bent." Elisabeth changes her name from Mathews to Bent at differing times.
