Elizabeth Young
Evidence from emigration, newspaper, and genealogical records proves that the Smith family traveled to Utah in 1861. They sailed to America in 1861, and the first documentation to place them in Utah is the marriage of the daughter Elizabeth on 28 Oct. 1861 in American Fork, Utah. They sailed to American on the ship Underwriter. Most emigrants on this voyage continued overland with either the Homer Duncan or the Joseph Horne Companies. Further research is needed to determine the name of the company they traveled with.
