Ellen Jane Broomhead
Ellen Jane crossed the Atlantic with her mother, Catherine Robbins Broomhead, and her sister Ann Maria on the ship Emblem in 1849.
By the time of the 1850 federal census they were in Pottawattamie County, Iowa.
Ann's father, William Broomhead, and a married sister, Mary Ann Broomhead Wheelock, arrived in 1852. Mary AnnWheelock and her mother then crossed the plains in the Allen Weeks Company of that year.
Ellen Jane, her sister Ann Maria and their father traveled to Salt Lake City this same year, but the name of the pioneer company with which they traveled is unknown. Additional research is needed to determine the name of that pioneer company. Jane Broomhead is mentioned in the records of the Deseret Dramatic Association on 1 December 1852, proving that she arrived in Utah in 18512.
