The Meek family emigrated to the United States in 1850. They sailed on the ship Argo. Ellen is listed on the ship manifest as "Helen."
They arrived in Utah by 1853.
On her tombstone and in her obituary, her birth date is listed as November 8, 1852. However, based on the ship manifest and other sources, it is evident that she was born before the family emigrated to the United States.
