Emanuel Long crossed the Atlantic in 1849. He arrived in Utah before 8 April 1853 when he was ordained a Seventy.  He also purchased land in Salt Lake City this year.  In November 1853 he was a member of an expedition that went to Green River in present-day Wyoming for the purpose of establishing a settlement there.  In 1856 and 1860 he was in Weber County. Thereafter he was in Bloomington, Bear Lake County.   Further research is needed to narrow the year of his travel and to identify the name of the pioneer company with which he crossed the plains.

Mormon Migration records appear to have his name listed as "Song" rather than "Long." At this time it is difficult to tell if this is actually a misspelling or a different person. However, the dates and ages of the person on this boat match the migration information that is available from Emanuel Long.
