On November 15, 1944, I received a call to serve a six-month mission to the Texas Mission. This meant leaving my little family home to take care of things there. Marvin then would soon be 12 years old, and Hy was 9. They were dependable boys who knew how to work. We had a milking machine for milking the cows. With Sadie (wife) to help and supervise, they thought they could handle it. Still, it entailed a lot of work to milk the cow, clean the barn, feed everything, etc. I really hated to leave them, but felt in this case the Lord would look after them. ... I was released in Spring 1945 in time to do my spring work in the farm. Needless to say, I was really happy to find all well with my family. FS Autobiography
