She arrived in New York City via the ship Teutonia​ on 8 March 1867, along with her husband, Carl Henrich Weist, and infant son Ernest, who died shorty after the sea voyage. Daughter Caroline was born before the family left with the Loveland Company in 1868. 

Her travel to Utah in 1868 is confirmed by her obituary.
