Esther Griffiths Lewis

Esther came to Utah between 1860 and 1863. Family histories found on the Welsh Mormon History website indicate she came to Utah in 1861 with her brother, Evan, and the William and Catherine Fayle family that took them in after her parents died. The Nebraska census confirms they were with this family in June of 1860. The first primary documentation to place Esther in Utah is her marriage in July 1864 to Francis Gunnell. Further research is needed to verify the year of her travel and the name of the company she traveled with. Esther's father Thomas died 1856 in Saint Louis Missouri. Her mother Mary Ann and her sister Eleanor died on the ship Golconda in 1854. Her other sister Margaret died in 1854.
