We know that Francis arrived in Utah by 1855 because he appears in the 1856 Utah census, which was taken in February 1856. His name was listed as "Frank Pope" living in the Salt Lake City 14th Ward area.
Journal History, 23 September 1859 includes a copy of a newspaper article which states that he was involved in a court case regarding an individual by the name of Colburn.
The 1860 Utah census gives the following information on him: Francis Pope, mulatto, born about 1800 in Virginia, lived in the Salt Lake 14th Ward. No other family members were listed with him.
We have not been able to locate any further information on Francis, do not know if he was a member of the L.D.S. church, or if he died in Utah.
