Although he states that he came to Utah in 1847 in his autobiographical sketch, that is questionable. It is more likely that he came in 1848.
He was rebaptized in Salt Lake City on 3 June 1849 and 6 June 1850, the same day as his wife, Hannah.
Joseph Sutton Brundage is Furman's stepson.
