He came to Utah between 1860 and 1868. He likely came in 1860, the year he took a PEF loan for his emigration and sailed to America. But the first documentation to place him in Utah are church ordinances performed in November 1868. Further research is needed to narrow the year of his travel.
His last name is spelled "Mears" on the ship record.
