Gertrude's father (Christopher) died in 1858 in Iowa. There is documentation that Gertrude traveled with her siblings (Mads Christian, Carl Marinus, and Soren Peter) to Utah. However, her mother (Mariane Madsen Christensen) is not listed in company sources. Therefore, at this time it is not clear when she (Mariane) came to Utah.
