Gihon Loynd
The Loynd family arrived in New York on 6 July 1866 via the ship Arkwright. Thompson company records list him as "G. Lyon" with a notation that he purchased 5 1/2 adult food rations for the overland journey, indicating that those that were on the ship with him were with him for the overland portion of the journey as well.
In PEF records, there is a Gihon Loynd, who arrived in 1866, with a balance consistent with food and luggage for at least five people. The placement in the ledger (surrounded by other members of the Thompson company) confirms that it was this was the individual who was part of the Thompson Company.
Not too long after arriving in Utah, the family returned to England.
Alice Singleton Loynd, who traveled to Utah several years earlier with another son, was his mother.
