Helen traveled overseas with her family on the ship John Bright. First documentation to place her family in Utah is ordinances performed for her mother and sister on 3 September 1868 in the Salt Lake Twentieth Ward. Helen later married Charles Cushing. Some census records list her first name as "Nellie."
