Henry Dennison Durfee (1833 - 1916) Profile

Henry Dennison Durfee

Henry arrived in the Valley sometime between 1850 and 1856. Further research is needed to narrow the year of travel and identify that name of the company he traveled in. He is documented on the plains in 1856 when he participated in the rescue effort to assist the members of the Church stranded on the plains of Wyoming. Henry is described as an express rider for Brigham Young who was sent out repeatedly to help pioneers cross the plains. One of those trips was with Joseph Horne's 1861 out-and-back company. He worked as a teamster.
