Henry Gilbert
The British Mission record (found on Mormon Migration) indicates Frances was a widow, but the passenger list indicates s/he was male. Spelling of the name also very on different records (Francis/Frances), so it is uncertain if this head of household was the mother or father of the family. The Gilbert family arrived in New York on 5 July 1866 via the ship American Congress. Six children were listed with Francis on the ship records. The overland company records indicate Francis purchased 4 1/2 adult food rations, which would be consistent for a family of this size with some small children, so it is assumed they all made the overland trip together as well.
Birth year is extrapolated from the age shown on ship records.
