Hepzibah Matthews

Evidence from emigration, church (Perpetual Emigrating Fund) records proves the Matthews family traveled to Utah in 1863. Her name was "Hepzibah Mathews" on the 1863 Cynosure ship passenger list. Her name is listed as "Hepsebah" on PEF records. 

Birth and death dates are confirmed by her death certificate.  Her surname is "Green" on the 1870 Utah census, death certificate and Find A Grave website.  She married John Hullett Green.

There is additional documentation indicating that her sister Anne traveled with her, but other records indicate that Anne may have come to the Valley in 1855.
