Additional Notes
Per the 10 October 1852 diary entry of his brother Elias Smith, Hiram and his family reached Salt Lake City from Kanesville, Iowa, on 10 October 1852. Elias also recorded that Hiram's son, Ezra, died en route.
Based on the date of their arrival, they possibly traveled with the James C. Snow company. However, the family was not listed on the July 1852 company roster. This means that they may have joined the company after that list was created or traveled with a currently unidentified group.
