The spelling of his given name is confirmed by the inscription on his gravestone which includes a birth date of 6 October 1836. In the 1856 Utah census his surname is spelled "Mungar." He married Sophronia Jane Utley at Salt Lake City in 1860. 1870 federal census in California. He died in Oregon.
