As mission president he served as editor of the mission newspaper, Der Darsteller der Heiligen der Letzten Tage. The German Mission was absorbed by the Swiss and Italian Mission in 1861 and he continued as president of the new Swiss, Italian, and German Mission until the arrival of John L. Smith.
