James Henry Hulse, Jr.
The Hulse family arrived in New York on 6 July 1866 via the ship Arkwright. The mother, Caroline, died shortly after their arrival in America, before the overland company departed. Only James Sr., as head of household, is listed on the Thompson company records. However, the notation that he purchased two adult food rations indicates that his two small children were with him for this part of the journey as well. PEF records confirm this.
