James, his wife Mary, children Margaret, Georgina, Jane and Thomas carme from Scotland in 1861 on the ship Underwriter.
Evidence from emigration, church ordinance and Perpetual Emigrating Fund records prove that the Mair family traveled to Utah in 1861. Further research is needed to determine the name of the pioneer company they traveled to Utah with.
His birth and death dates are confirmed by the burial record.
