James Richard Ross (1838 - 1902) Profile

James Richard Ross

James came to Utah with his mother, Rachael Leah Smith Ross Radford. The Radford family came to Utah sometime between 1848 and 1850. A child was born in Iowa in June 1848, but the first documentation to place them in Utah is the 1850 Utah Census and the birth of a child in Utah in 1850.  Catherine Elizabeth Radford died en route. The first evidence to place the family in Utah is the 1850 Utah census, which was taken in the Spring of 1851, prior to the arrival of that season's emigration.  Further research is needed to determine the name of the company they traveled with.

Birth date is confirmed by Provo 2nd Ward at the time of a rebaptism on 1 August 1852.
