Daughter of John and Agnes Whitelock Dick. He crossed the Atlantic with his parents and siblings on the ship John Bright, arriving in New York on 14 July 1868. Ship's passenger list erroneously lists her as "James." In some sources her given name is "Jean" or "Jenny"
