Jarvis Johnson (1829 - 1898) Profile

Jarvis Johnson

Jarvis first arrived in the Valley with a company of discharged Battalion members coming from Fort Pueblo. Shortly after arriving, he returned to Winter Quarters. The following year, he crossed the plains again, this time with the 1848 Brigham Young Company. (His obituary indicates his return trip was in 1849, but the Carruth journal confirms it was in 1848.) He returned again to the east just shortly after arriving. This time he remained in Nebraska until his wife died in 1860. That year, he brought his children to the Utah Territory to settle. Further research is needed to identify the name of the company they traveled with.
