Although she is shown with the surname of Shaw on the overland company records, the ship passenger list for The General McClellan shows her listed with Edward and Catherine Shaw as Jemima Nicholson, a 28 year old spinster. Jemima was Catherine's daughter from her first marriage to George Knighton.
