Laurids Jensen (1841 - 1914) Profile

Laurids Jensen

Jens emigrated from Denmark with Peder Jensen in 1864 on the ship Monarch of the Sea.  The ship manifest lists his name as "Jens Chr. Larsen."

According to FamilySearch, he was christened with the name of "Laurids Jensen."(see https://www.familysearch.org/photos/artifacts/29588786)  He then went by the name of "Lars Christensen," and in 1882 his name was legally changed to "Lars Christian Breinholt."

He joined the Christoffersen Freight Train mainly to avoid debt to the church by going with the Church Train. He was a teamster for Soren Christoffersen. Breinholt's written account provides information about the Freight Train and some insight regarding their unique trail experience.

His birth and death dates are confirmed by his death certificate and the inscription on his gravestone.
