Jens Nielsen Hansen
Jens arrived in New York with his parents and siblings on 3 June 1864 via the ship The Monarch of the Sea. The majority of his family continued overland with the William Preston company that same year. Jens and his brother, Hans, were first associated with the John Smith Company, but before leaving, they were hired by the Smith & Spencer Company, along with other Danish immigrants, to drive teams back to Utah.
In some sources his surname is "Nielsen".
