Johanne and her newborn son, Jesse, are believed to have died in May 1855 at Leavenworth, Kansas (before the Secrist/Guymon Wagon Company headed out). Her husband and their 3-year-old son, Jens (aka Bert James) continued on to Utah as part of that company.
