
John Bennett Hawkins
John sailed to America in 1849 on the ship Henry Ware. He was a single man.
He initially traveled to the Salt Lake Valley in the John S. Higbee/James W. Bay Company in 1852. However, he later participated as one of the rescuers that were sent out in the winter of 1856 to assist the members of the Church stranded in Wyoming.
In the 1860 Utah census a John B. Hawkins was living in the Salt Lake City 14th Ward. The Registry of Names of Persons Residing in the Various Wards as to Bishops' Reports, Great Salt Lake City, December 28th, A.D. 1852 also lists a John Hawkins (no middle initial), in the 14th Ward.
