The two Cook brothers, John and Joseph, came to Utah in either 1864 or 1865. They likely came in 1864, the year they sailed to America. But the first documentation to place them in Utah is the accidental death of Joseph Cook in June 1866, prior to the arrival of that season's emigration. John Cook's obituary states that he came to Utah in 1864, but that needs to be confirmed by contemporary documentation. Biographical research asserts that the two brothers traveled in the 1864 Murdock company, but their names are not on the comprehensive hand-written roster. Further research is needed to narrow the year of their travel.
