John Fenton Shields
Evidence from genealogical records prove that the Shields family came to Utah in 1849. A child was born and died in Illinois in July 1848 and another child born in Utah in January 1850.
The family moved to California by May 1852 and returned to Utah by November 1863, where another child was born in November of that year.
Further research is needed to determine the name of the pioneer companies with which the Shields family traveled to Utah in both journeys.
