John Given, Jr.
John arrived in New Orleans with his father (John Given Sr.) and grandmother (Martha Given) on 14 March 1851 via the ship The Ellen. It appears he remained in the New Orleans area until 1854 (perhaps with his grandmother) while his father continued on to the Valley. When his mother (Elizabeth Rowley Given) arrived from Scotland in 1854, they proceeded on the overland journey together with the Garn Company.
